Just docked! Step back into the golden age of scale modelling with the return of a much-loved Vintage Classic, the 1:72 RAF Rescue Launch. Honouring the real-life heroes who navigated through treacherous waters and risked everything to save downed airmen during WWII, this heroic vessel is now in stock and ready for your workbench!

With 155 parts and two authentic scheme options, this detailed kit brings history to life at your fingertips. Whether you’re a seasoned naval modeller or just love a build with a story, this one deserves a place on your bench.

The RAF Rescue Launch is a challenging model to recreate in the Vintage Classics style. This Powerboat features 155 pieces and two colour schemes, making it a worthy successor to the beloved 1:72 scale model kit of yesteryear.

The Royal Air Force Sea Rescue Service was established during World War II with the motto “The sea shall not have them” in response to the very real threat of losing large numbers of aircrew members who were forced to ditch in the seas surrounding the British Isles.

This service prioritised speed with vessels designed by the British Powerboat Company and using racing boat technology. Their most notable craft, the Type Two 63ft HSL “Whaleback,” was undoubtedly their flagship.

The ‘Spitfires of the sea’ moniker likely originated from the awe-inspiring roar produced by the three 24-liter Napier Sea Lion engines that propelled these vessels.
