Initial assessment…
Having looked closely at Airfix’s HMS Illustrious and this set, WEM’s offering will greatly increase the overall look of your finished model. Most notably the deck railings (they always look better in P.E.), but also the radar masts hose reels and walkways.

Unfortunately I won’t be using this set (please feel free to ‘boo’ my editor in chief, and call him names), however Gareth Jordan will be using this and the Air Wing set on a future build; so he will be able to comment on the fit of these sets.
This set is on par with everything else I’ve seen released by White Ensign Models, that is to say top quality, highly detailed and well produced.
Conclusion…
Another cracking set from WEM, well worth an investment and will be a great addition to your Airfix HMS Illustrious ship.
