Kitty Hawk Jaguar GR.1, GR.3 1:48

January 21, 2015 By Francis Porter

More fuselage and wing prep

1 BN Ac Kitty Hawk SEPECAT Jaguar Pt3
Hopefully you can see here that the top wing join is all sorted and the rivet detail lost in the sanding process, reinstated. I plan to attach the re-worked wing fences later, once all the rest of the sanding and re-scribing of the underside is complete.
2 BN Ac Kitty Hawk SEPECAT Jaguar Pt3
You can see the underside of the wing join in this pic that has liquid poly showing – even here the join isn’t that good and despite thinning the inside edge of the wing it still sat proud and needed sanding, re-scribing of the detail and re-riveting.

Wing stores pylons

Here’s the classic before and after photos showing how the French shaped pylons have been modified to better represent the pylons fitted to RAF Jaguars – a very straightforward task using a scalpel and sanding sticks. The separate stores sway-braces fit perfectly.

Intake vent doors

6 BN Ac Kitty Hawk SEPECAT Jaguar Pt3
5 BN Ac Kitty Hawk SEPECAT Jaguar Pt3Only one of the square-shaped vent doors is moulded on each side of the kit intakes – there should be 2. Some careful re-scribing, steel rules and templates enabled this to be done quite quickly.

Nose glazing and more…
