The Twin Oerlikons
These are part brass part resin. The barrels of the guns weren’t so straight but I decided to leave them as they are quite delicate and from most angles are just about satisfactory. The photos are in extreme close up so they are picking out all the detail – I hope I got it right!!
The 6 pounder
This is the rapid-fire version of the gun and has a delicate self-load mechanism. CC sent me some pics of the gun made up in a larger scale to help me figure out what goes where. It is nice and I think will look good on the craft. Tricky to construct though.
The Holman projector
A strange bomb-throwing device to scare away aircraft (It didn’t hit many) which worked by throwing a mills bomb into the air in the path of oncoming aircraft giving the impression that the craft was armed with larger calibre AA than it was. This was due to the large puff of black smoke in the air after the explosion; it was judged successful for a time.
