Just before we get started, here’s a look at how it all turned out…

The Subject

The Leopard 2A7V is at the time of writing the latest in-service version of a platform that has been improved over many years.

It is also widely exported in various versions to countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

A German Army Leopard II tank, assigned to 104th Panzer Battalion, moves through the Joint Multinational Readiness Center during Saber Junction 2012 in Hohenfels, Germany, Oct. 25. The U.S. Army Europe’s exercise Saber Junction trains U.S. personnel and 1800 multinational partners from 18 nations ensuring multinational interoperability and an agile, ready coalition force.

It is also the heaviest version to-date at 66.5 tonnes.

The Kit

This kit release follows on from RFM’s Leopard 2A6 kits and shares many sprues with earlier iterations.

I built the model out of the box and the only aftermarket items used were a metal barrel which was under £12 from a well-known Chinese online marketplace, metal antennas from Leopard Club and AK Interactive camouflage netting.
