The subject

The T-72 was designed and production commenced over fifty years ago.
There have been many upgrades over the years and it has been manufactured in other countries with a total production over 25000.

The kit

Meng have re-used tooling from their previous releases along with newer parts for this version. Scalemates entry for the kit showing the kit history can be seen here.

The version depicted by the model is the T-72B3M which is an upgraded version of T-72B as outlined in the pages linked to at the beginning.
