Das Werk/Takom Jagdpanther G2 1:35 – build review

January 23, 2026 By Francis Porter

Full Review with Dai Williams

The subject of this project was the Das Werk (Takom) 1:35th Scale Jagdpanther G2. And before we get started, here’s a look at how it all turned out…

I believe that this kit is a re-boxing of a kit originally released by Takom in their ‘Blitz’ series. The Blitz kits are designed to be built more easily than some of the more complex contemporary kits from other manufacturers.

The Jagdpanzer V, which was subsequently renamed the Jagdpanther (Sd.Kfz. 173), was a German tank destroyer that was created during World War II. It was constructed on the Panther chassis and was outfitted with the potent 8.8 cm Pak 43 L/71 gun. It was created in 1944 with the intention of offering highly effective anti-tank capabilities and was heavily armoured. It was first deployed in mid-1944 and played a key role in battles such as the Ardennes Offensive (December 1944), where it destroyed numerous Allied tanks.

An example of their approach to ease of construction is that with this kit, the inner sets of road wheels have been moulded as single pieces. This makes correct alignment very easy and the pieces of plastic joining the individual wheels together are invisible on the finished model.

The kit includes a small etched sheet for the ventilation grills on the engine deck and a turned metal gun barrel.
