Hobby Boss Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb 1:32

August 16, 2012 By

Summary

This is a nice kit; yes it does have its issues and it doesn`t have the refinement and detail of the Tamiya kit but it is a third of the price and that cannot be ignored. Surface detail is good, interior detail is adequate and it would make an excellent starting point for those that wish to add more detail through the use of aftermarket parts.

If you just want a Spitfire model in 1:32nd and you’re not bothered about the mark or the price then I would have to recommend the Tamiya kit but if you want a Mk.V or you are on a limited budget you can`t go far wrong with this kit. It’s well-engineered, goes together without any major issues and above all its great value for money especially when you consider the price of a lot of the other new tooling kits out there.
It`s Highly recommended to all ability levels.

Plus points:

  • It’s a new tooling Mk.Vb in 1:32nd
  • Nice surface detail
  • The cockpit and engine detail are quite good
  • It’s a very , very good price when compared to Tamiya’s 1:32nd Spitfire

Watch out for:

  • Some possible inaccuracies in the width of the fuselage and shape of the propellers
  • Decals had a tendency to silver even when applied on a gloss surface and they were quite thick
  • Incorrect surface detail on lower side of the rear horizontal stabilisers.
