Check out Finished Now review by Dave Coward of the Kinetic 1:48th scale kit

Is it me, or do lots of you just love the quirky look of the E-2 Hawkeye? I’ve loved the type ever since the release of the old Fujimi kit in 1:72 scale and now. Of course the good looking Kinetic offerings in 1:48th scale (See IPR area). With the release of new kits always comes the scramble for quality reference material and how timely then, that on one of the Overseas Branch displays at the recent IPMS (UK) Scale ModelWorld show the Editor should come across this new title. And WOW! What a find… it has everything you’ll ever need to complete any scale model on the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye.

Clearly this book is targeted at the scale modeller and I note that it is No.3 in the Series – the other two titles concerning the French Dassault Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000. So what of this book?

The page-count alone at 123 pages packed from cover to cover with full colour images is stunning – there’s not a poor image in the book. Instead the reader is treated with a huge number of walk around images illustrating every aspect of this aircraft, so those hard-to-get images of the cockpit, wing-fold, undercarriage and radome are all covered in great detail.

The final section features colour profiles that illustrate the different operators of the E-2C around the world – and very interesting schemes there are too. Let’s hope that the decals manufacturers won’t be missing a trick here?

This is a desirable text in every sense of the word! Comprehensive walk around coverage of the E-2C in full colour specifically with the scale modeller in mind. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Highly recommended. GC
