Workhorse Panzer III in North Africa

December 16, 2011 By

ISBN: 978-0-9806593-5-1
Format: Soft back. Part of The Firefly Collection

Initial Assessment

Another book from this publisher in the same A4 format, which has over 50 archive photographs, 6 pages of full colour artworks, text covering the employment of the Pz III in Africa and, inside the back cover, a diagram of the Panzer Regiment Tank strength in 1942 (one of several such charts through the book).

All photographs, text and art work are printed on glossy paper of good quality, except for the cover which is glossy on the outside only. The pictures, chart and text on the insides are on a matt finish.

Conclusions

I have several of these books and have found them informative and easy to read, giving a potted history of the subject well covered in a small book.

The artwork is good and will be of use to modellers as a guide and inspiration for that Afrika Corp Panzer III, which can truly be said to have been the workhorse in this Theatre of operations.

The photographs will be of use as they show the stowage and give a feel of the vehicle under combat conditions, as well as the dress of the crews and other serving members in the desert and Libya.

Highly Recommended.
