This pic has the driver’s compartment nearly completed – I have added a bit of wiring. As it will not be seen I have not included too much of this.
The good thing about this kit is that all the components can be built up separately, so I can leave some parts semi assembled and return to them later. This keeps one’s mind fresh. Also it means that one can jump forward in the instructions (don’t forget that they are on CD and amount to nearly 160 pages !!!!) where you will find the solutions to some earlier questions. Read them carefully before starting work.
So with this method in mind I started working on the engine. Nice stuff here and back on home territory as this is effectively a Merlin by Rolls Royce. Once again, only the top will be seen if installed (there is a trolley to show it off outside the vehicle if you wish to get into it seriously) so I have concentrated on that.
Engine partially assembled and some more parts to go on. Unfortunately two of the spark plug leads disappeared in transit. I have made up a very rough copy of them but they won’t really be visible in situ.
Engine largely assembled (except for the spark wires) and painted.
This shows some of the smaller engine bit (dynamo/generator) batteries and Tiny Tim, the generator used for supplying power when the main engine was not in use
