Really important stuff!
SMN Subscriber Survey!
It’s taken a little longer to get this ready but we’re just about there now and this is aimed at all our subscribers. And what an opportunity it is – a chance to directly influence what you’d like to see us cover in your Mag. There are just 26 short questions that will give you an important say in where we take SMN over the coming months. So, please do spare a few minutes to give us your thoughts.
I’ll be e-mailing this to you later this coming week and the sooner you can get your completed survey back to me, the quicker we can get onto taking action on your suggestions ad ideas. I really want to thank you all personally in advance for taking a little time to give us your thoughts.
Where did it all start Geoff?
Funny this, a few people have asked me that in the last month or two. Not SMN magazine, but my first review. Can you remember even what it was?

Well, I remember that first review as if it were last week and how it came about. Some of you will remember Angus Creighton? We used to see a fair bit of each other through our local IPMS club and then visiting each other – you know how it goes and he said that Marcus at Tamiya Model Magazine International was looking for someone to have a go at the then re-released 1:48th Brewster Buffalo kit. We’ I reckoned it could be good fun, never having done anything like that before. I have always liked chatting to other modellers about what I and they have been doing – especially the ‘how did you do that’ stuff! And that was that as they say… I found the issue of TMMI the other day and here it is… June/July 1993 – my, my doesn’t time fly?
Aircraft stuff!
Lots going on this coming week…
The HobbyBoss Tornado IDS should be completed and you may have noticed that we’ve slipped in James’s Isracast Studio Barak conversion for the huge Tamiya kit. This has had a troubled life for all sorts of reasons, but is at last here now for you to enjoy. There’s no doubt the conversion makes for a great looking kit.
And how about this – Vector- Henschel Hs-126 1.48 scale – a very nice resin kit that Dave C has done a great job on. You can get this excellent kit from Neomega Resin and great value it offers too – check it out here at: www.neomega-resin.com/vector/home.htm we also have a full Here Now review so take a look at that too.
Hannant’s excellent Xtrakit Supermarine Swift is nearly there too, so expect a new update very soon.
Also getting started is the Italeri 1:48th Boeing ACH-47A Chinook. Les is throwing some serious aftermarket stuff at this one and so lots to get excited about there in his Feature Article.
Maritime stuff!
The final part of Les Vs HMS Abercrombie is also going into SMN this week and I can promise you a treat with that – in my view his best maritime project to date – and that from someone who hadn’t touched a maritime project before his first for SMN the lovely Weiner Modellbau SMU-12 in 1:72nd scale at the end of last year. Just take a look through the pages of SMN to see just what’s possible from a self-professed novice to maritime modelling – unbelievable really – but true!
Armour stuff …
Italeri are getting a bit of an airing in SMN and that continues with the Italeri Autoblinda AB 43 in 1.48th scale. Rapid progress on this one so check it out now.
Ok just a short one this week – keep checking into SMN for the most in-depth reviews you’ll fine in any scale modelling mag – anywhere! See you next week.
