Flog it!

Well, no don’t do that, what I mean is we have a fantastic build from Les V in Build Now – imminently destined for Finished Now – already! This must be the first in the UK, surely? What I love about this kind of project is where it all comes together, SMN teamwork at its best, all designed to bring you a comprehensive, objective build article that’s second to none. As I speak this review is already up to 83 images and we are just at the painting stage – it will be over 100 images by the time it’s finished and at least 30 pages of A4! Pay attention manufacturers and suppliers – this is the norm with key releases so keep your products coming in and we’ll do the rest…
Paying into the Bank now
After a relatively quiet period, it’s all go now as I work with the team and hopefully YOU to increase the number of ‘how-to’ techniques available to everyone. Here’s what has either gone in today or is imminent:
- Weathering – Washes
- Vac-form canopies
- Etched metal parts
- Masking canopies
We are making a big push to expand the techniques most used by armour and maritime modellers, as there is already plenty in your TB for aircraft scale modellers, but worry not aircraft fans, a lot to come for you as well – 2 new techniques just in as you can see above and many on the way.
HD Video comes to SMN
The big news I hoped to announce this week is bang on course and 24th June sees us shooting the first three demonstration videos in High Definition. We are working with a TV production company to make these short, punchy video dems that will show you exactly HOW it’s done. Never the only way, but some great help on its way that will set new standards in terms of quality. Watch this space!
Trumpeter T-62 rolling into Here Now as I speak
And that’s not all; Andy Burton is taking this on and will start his Build Now review very soon. Not seen Andy’s work before? It’s awesome and you’ll see some great examples of his previous projects in the Subscriber Gallery – so check that out.
Alright Fletcher, settle down?

No, nothing to do with the hugely successful BBC TV programme ‘Porridge’, but Les V getting stuck into Revell’s great 1:144th scale Fletcher Class Destroyer. I’ve seen the completed build – my he works quickly, and you are in for a real treat my friends, so keep a look out for that one – imminent!
Airfix – Mossie super detailed!
You’ve already seen Dave Coward’s excellent build in Finished Now, that’s been done ages, but what happens when you take some serious aircraft modelling skill and superdetail an already excellent kit – Julian’s Mosquito FB Mk.VI, that’s what – do check out progress. The cockpit, guns and ammo boxes are simply stunning – really inspirational. And that brings me to another reason for our existence, to provide inspiration wherever and whenever we can. Whether it’s the new little Airfix 1:72nd scale Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc – built from the box and plain good fun, or Julian’s mega build, this hobby and definitely SMN is about providing all of you with something inspirational.
So much to see and look forward to – regular daily and weekly updates.
Your SMN magazine is close to 1000 pages! All from £3.50 a month? You must be kidding?…No I’m not.
See you soon,
Geoff
