Airfix Avro Vulcan B2 – 1:72 scale
1:72 scale gets a boost with my own new build of the Airfix Avro Vulcan B2. This is a great example of how good books and references can inspire you – check out The Aviation Workshop’s awesome recent book: “V-Bombers, Britain’s Cold War Deterrent” in your Book Review area now. Just look at this image PIC Well, you just have to don’t you? I saw that brown camouflages underside and it was off to the stash to get started on the Airfix kit. Never got around to building it so far – it’s only been around since 1983! Still, better late than never… And it’s about to start in Build Now this week, and lots of help and advice on fit and how the kit goes together. The wings are on (well, one is) and progress is rapid, so watch this space!
Speaking of Avro, how timely is this?
Tamiya Avro Lancaster B.Mk.III – 1:48 scale
I am absolutely delighted to welcome Alex Kontiveis from Greece to SMN and what a stunning debut it is. A true superbuild if ever there was one and you’ll be able to follow every step and how Alex has managed to create a show-stopper. Fantastic use of photo etch and skill all in one – you’ll love this!

And 1:32 scale too…
Trumpeter MiG-17 “Fresco” – 1:32 scale
PIC You can’t keep a good man down or even keep up with him if his name happens to be Les Venus. His very nice MiG-17 is all finished in Finished Now, so check that out if you want any help and a step-by-step on applying Alclad2 lacquer. Great stuff
Yes more to come…
