Phantom F-4J(UK) – Tamiya 1:32 scale!

Yet more largeness in Build Now with Dave C’s excellent build of the Tamiya F-4J kit being converted to an RAF F-4J(UK).

This is one of my favourite aircraft of all time and Dave is doing a great job as you can see. I’ve included a sneak pic of the finished model just in, so when we get the rest of the words and full pics we can finish this off for you and, as you can see, you’re in for a real treat with his build.

So you see what I mean, we are having a bit of a Large Fest at the moment, but overall, there is always plenty of variety across all the scales we feature in all sizes: small, medium and large.

Platinum Subscription coming very soon

One or two requests have come in from subscribers asking if we still plan to introduce the 2-year subscription option. Well, we’re now ready to do that and what great value it will be:

New Platinum level subscription: £80.00 for 2 years – unbelievable value for money, just look at what it will give you:

  • 4 years worth of content for £80.00 – unbelievable, but TRUE! That’s the equivalent of just £3.33 per month!
We have been going for just 2 years now and someone subscribing for the first time now (as soon as the option goes ‘live’) will get everything we have published to date, PLUS everything we publish in the next 2 years! I am genuinely excited about what this will mean for all those who see the incredible value a Platinum subs brings
  • Full access to the whole of SMN, whenever and wherever you want it – on your home PC, laptop, i-Pad, i-Phone – whatever devices you have, you’ll have your SMN whenever you want it = how good is that? You can’t take your whole pile of mags with you, now can you?

Anyone will be able to upgrade to a Platinum subscription at the end of their current subscription period.

Need to nudge the subs up – but good news too

Any of you that still subscribe to paper model mags or have looked at the price of these recently will see that they are getting more and more expensive when you look at what you actually get for your money. What’s the typical price for just one single paper mag? Around £5, maybe more?

One month with SMN today typically costs £3.50 (with a 12-month Gold sub), but you get access to everything we have ever published – 2-YEARS OF CONTENT!

Our own costs too have crept up and so this means we do have to nudge our subscription price levels up just a little. So… from 1st February 2012 the new prices will be:

  • Gold (12-months) subscription £45.00 (from £42.00)
    …still equivalent of only £3.75 a month!
  • Silver (6-months) subscription £25.00 (from £22.00)
…still the equivalent of only £4.17 a month
  • Bronze (3-months) subscription £15.00 (unchanged)
  • Existing monthly Bronze and Bronze-Plus subscribers £3.95 subscription (unchanged)

Subscribers’ Gallery Free for all!

That’s literally of course. So do keep on sending in your pics of your favourite modelling projects with a paragraph of what it is, model, scale, add-ons and so on. Just check out some of the latest additions in What’s New; some truly inspirational work on show there.

Facebook beckons…for you, for you, for you…

Just a reminder that your SMN Facebook page is a great place to go and chat, comment and get the latest heads-up on what’s new, what’s current and what’s coming to SMN. Check it out soon!

Can you help?

I am really keen to offer new opportunities to modellers like you to contribute modelling articles and builds to SMN. I need at least 2 more armour and 2 maritime modellers – can you help?

Would you mind taking some pics of your model build (maybe you have already?) and write some words to simply explain what you did? That’s really all there is to it. You’ll see from reading any of the articles in SMN that we have a great variety of approaches and styles – long may it continue!

If you fancy a go or maybe just want to know a little more, then please do get in touch for a no-obligation chat. Just drop me an e-mail to: geoff@scalemodellingnow.com and we can go from there. Thanks.

See you soon…

Geoff
