Who built what? …that is the question… searching by contributor…
A number of you have, over the months asked if you can search for reviews and articles by contributor. Well, now the answer is yes, you can – nearly! It’s taken a while to work out the best way to tackle this question and you can now start seeing the results in ‘about smn’. This is a work in progress, but I want you to be able to start using this facility straight away. Francis has done a superb job so far with many aircraft builds linked to their respective authors and so it goes on. All the links should be in for all areas within 2 weeks!
ll you have to do is go to about smn and pick a member of the team from the right panel – click their profile link and you’ll see a quick link to their dedicated page listing all the build articles and reviews that they have contributed to SMN (for the ones we’ve done so far).
Hope you like new feature – it’s taking a while as you’d imagine with 249 builds to link from, but we’ll get there just as soon as we can and several members of the SMN Review Team are ‘live’ now.
Help you I can… NEW Sci-Fi area opens up in your Subscribers’ Gallery
This is great news for all of you that build Sci-Fi models – and I know that’s more of you than you might think – come on Roger, let’s see them! There are some fantastic creations around from kits to scratchbuilt projects – just check out Nebuchadnezzar – The Intruder by Guillermo D. Centeno that’s just gone ‘live’. This is an incredible 3ft scratchbuilt project that you have to see to believe… an incredible piece of scale modelling.
Take a look now!!! and… start sending in your Sci-Fi entries for the Gallery and I’ll get them in as soon as I can.
More techniques into your Techniques Bank….
Yep, two more headed there as I speak; including one new HD video highlighting some of the advantages of adding photo etch to your armour models. Of course, it’s always a matter of choice but there is something about models covered in PE that can really inspire! In SMN we have plenty of out of the box armour builds, but we also have plenty of advanced builds featuring more PE than you can shake a stick at… check them out in Finished Now and Build Now.
On the way… recreating that smoked yellowy-orange tint on modern jet canopies can prove challenging and this is the subject of a new HD video and step-by-step coming to you your TB (thanks Jim for your suggestion).
We’ve had a lot of armour techniques being added in recent months – I was and am keen to keep developing that area but I’m also keen to make sure we keep adding helpful hints, tips, advice and HD video demos good for aircraft modellers so lots more planned and in the pipeline for all areas!
Don’t forget, I’m always looking for ideas for techniques and HD video demos that you want to see so let me know using the contact link in the Mag.
Please help us to help you!
If you like SMN and enjoy what we are all creating then please pass on the good news to your friends and fellow modellers. The more subscribers we get the longer we’ll be able to keep subs at their current, incredibly low level ☺ Thanks.
Back soon for another update very soon!
