Initial thoughts and the plan

It’s been good to finally get hold of a couple of kits from Zoukei-Mura, the J2-M3 Raiden in 1:32 and now this J7-W1 Shin Den in 1:48 scale. Both of these have full Here Now in-box reviews and you can find them here for the J2 M3 Rai Den Raiden and here for this Zoukei-Mura J7 W1 Shin Den.

This J7-W1 certainly looks the part in the box with multiple grey sprues featuring lots of highly detailed parts – it will be interesting to see what is visible on the completed model and what will be hidden away never to see the light of day again. My hope, and plan is to try and have some of the internals detail like gun bay and engine visible in some way on the completed model but this may be too much to ask looking at the parts as is. Let’s wait and see what can be done when we get to it.

For now though I will build all the sub-assemblies and parts as they are offered, that way you can see what can be done with the kit and in turn you can make up your own mind as to what you do and do not complete, detail and paint – as ever, you can all make your own choice.
