Armour stuff!
You’ve probably seen the main cover link to Neil Ps Italeri Autoblinda AB-43? Well you should take a look at the completed project in Finished Now (this is where all the completed builds end up). It just goes to show what can be achieved in a very short time when you can just get going and not end up faffing about or procrastinating. This can afflict all of us at some point, but Neil is a real inspiration, because he just get the kit and builds it as best he can. Paint is well and weathers it with great skill – quickly, so he is always just finishing…X, funny that, when I ask modellers: “Oh what are you working on just now?” Neil always come back with something that starts with: “I’ve just finished….X and I’m onto… amazing.
Just build it!
This is a theme we are really focusing on at our local club with a theme around ‘Vietnam’ for this year’s Scale ModelWorld 2010 at Telford, England. Everyone is being encouraged to just get hold of a model from their stash, or acquire one for this Theatre of operations and just build it. Les V has set the bar with his Chinook (see above) with plenty of others coming on line – some will be featured here in the pages of your SMN – so keep checking in.
More Armour PRL images on the way…
Again, you may have noticed the Photo Reference Library (PRL) Sets count going up steadily. Not just for aircraft, but also Armour projects too. Thanks to Gary Norris a great set has just been added for the Saladin Armoured Car and more are on the way too, so check this area out regularly, some very interesting stuff for you here.
The whole point of the PRL is to save you valuable modelling time by bringing high quality walk around images aimed directly at helping you as a scale modeller. All the images have been selected with modelling in mind and so we try and get access to the area of the real subject that are often difficult to photograph or where few reference images are generally available. This can save you hours of trawling the Net.
The PRL is available to all our 6 (Silver) and 12-month (Gold) subscribers and to those of you who subscribe monthly (Bronze) for a continuous period of 12 months or more.
Maritime stuff!

As it happens, the penultimate instalment of SMNs White Ensign Models HMS Abercrombie should have gone live by the time you read these words and next week the final part will come to you. That shows just what can be achieved when you add commitment by the big man (Les V) to some very nice resin. The finished model looks stunning!
Plenty of other maritime projects on the go in Build Now (where all the in-progress builds are located in SMN):
Revell USS Wasp LHD-1 1:350 scale
Italeri Elco 80-Ft PT Boat 1:35 scale
Plus some other long-term projects… and in the pipeline – some BIG Tamiya kits!
Other important stuff!
Videos – a few unfortunate delays here, but progress IS being made, so I ask you please be patient, the end result will be worth it.
Questionnaire – on the way soon, please look out for this and do let me know what you think about SMN, and your needs. I want to weld them both together into a top magazine that we can all be proud of.
See you soon…
