Shows and more shows!
IPMS Farnborough last weekend…
What a nice show this is. We had a good day meeting many if you and it’s just so good to actually be able to put a face to the name. Thanks to the club and organisers for putting on a very well organised event and if you haven’t been to that one yet, do – it’s a great day will lots of trade and club stands. Emily our daughter was blown away by the generous and welcoming approach given to younger visitors and she’s already got into her goody bag full of book and kits! Seriously well done guys whoever thought of that one, I saw many young smiling faces walking around the show.
Euro Militaire 2010…
Check out Bill and Andy’s report and get some real motivation with the images from the show – awesome!
Helping the next generation
Encouraging younger modellers just like the guys down at Farnborough are doing is fantastic, their interest will keep this awesome hobby of our going into the future and SMN is doing its bit too. Have you seen Club Model yet?
This area is growing fast with straightforward exciting builds aimed at not just newer or returning scale modellers but definitely younger modellers too. I had 4 great conversations with dad’s in tow with children at last week’s show and all were really pleased to see that we are encouraging them as dad’s to get back into the hobby AND their sons and daughters. SMN’s Techniques Bank is designed to give a lot of help and support to all levels of ability and as that grows the dozens of How-to techniques on offer should help and encourage successful scale modelling.
HOT NEWS!
From Alex at The Airbrush Company

“GreatWall Hobby (LionRoar’s brand of excellent quality multi-media kits) have been becoming increasingly well known in the military model market for their range of 1/35 scale vehicles.
Now we have really exciting news that LionRoar / GreatWall Hobby are releasing their very first aircraft kit, the 1:48 scale WWII German Focke Wulf Fw189 A2.
It is released some time in October (release dates have been known to slip before though) and it will take 3-4 weeks after that for shipping by sea.
We are still awaiting prices, so UK prices are T.B.A.
Regards
Alex
So…a 1:48th Focke Wulf Fw 189 A2 – wow! Guess who’ll be the first to build that then? Yep, SMN and I for one can’t wait. Keep checking The Airbrush Company’s website from where you’ll be able to buy it as soon as it’s released. All you armour modellers out there will be well aware of the excellent LionRoar armour kits we’ve featured in Here Now and Build Now and Andy Argent was incredibly impressed by the company’s Flak 43, so I think we’ll be in for a treat.
USS Wasp… back on course!
Gareth has done a good job turning this one around in difficult circumstances and it is nearly there, probably just one more instalment after the one that’s just gone live. Also…check out this latest update for some hot tips on how to gate rid of the ‘silvering’ you sometimes get when decals don’t go down fully – some hands tips from Gareth here.
