Canopies

The task
Painting frame lines on clear parts such as canopies can be tricky, despite your best efforts. It shouldn’t be and I have to say mostly isn’t using my tried and tested method of cutting thin strips of Tamiya masking tape and laying these down along the unpainted edge of the canopy frame. When you remove the tape you usually get a nice clean line and a perfectly painted frame, much like you can see in the above photo of the real subject.
On the current project where I am building this small scale Westland Scout helicopter you can see that in places the white paint (Tamiya Flat White XF-2 over grey primer) had bled under the edge of the tape and now looks awful.
The temptation is to throw a wobbly but no need, I promise!
