Thunderbird 3 1:350 – Adventures In Plastic (AIP) – build review

August 30, 2024 By Francis Porter

Thunderbird 3 1:350

Full Review with Geoff Coughlin
In-box kit video review

Hot on the heels of completing AIP’s very nice Thunderbird 1 model (that you can find here in the SFF Finished Now area in SMN), it’s now time to have a look at their Thunderbird 3 in the smaller 1:350 scale. As the craft is much bigger than TB-1 ‘in real life’ this makes sense.

You may have seen my in-box browse where we took a good look at the kit? If not, or you want to see that short video you can do that here.

The plastic is coloured and shiny, so we’ll need to take that shine down a bit before the main painting.

VIDEO DEMO

The decal sheet looks okay, although some of the colours seem a bit off, as with their TB-1 release? The blue looks a little too blue so we can look at that later. I’ll spray the yellow tips to the fins on the centre fuselage and spray the fins grey as per reference photos. The white and black areas can also get paint, rather than rely on the decals – should look neater.

Let’s get on with the build…
