Background

As a big fan of Ian Mcque’s artwork, I wanted to create a tribute to his work. Ian Mcque is a Scottish illustrator famous for his concept work on Solo, Mortal Engines and other such great movies and shows over the years as well as gaming titles like Grand Theft Auto 2.

I love his work and have some of his prints on my office wall, so felt that it was time to do something of my own. A few garage kits exist of his work, but I wanted to create a flying boat using some 1:35 scale parts and figures so out came the styrene and parts box.

I had an old coffee machine and the inner coffee holder was perfect for the underside of the boat, so that is where I started…
