What first attracted you to Scale Modelling?
I have had an interest in aviation since I can remember. I started building Airfix and Matchbox models as a child in the early 70s. Following 30 years in Royal Air Force, and then remote aviation logistics work, I came back to modelling during the covid lockdown in 2020, now being retired I can self indulge and concentrate on this fantastic hobby, with the help of SMN strive to improve my builds!

And finally: Most memorable Modelling disaster?
Revell 1/32 Hawker Tempest. Struggled from the get-go made a complete mess of front end, seam lines, over sanded, parts fit was abysmal, both from a build perspective and out of box ill fitting. Ended up binning and bought another which ended up 100% better, as I approached it with eyes open!

What made you get involved with SMN?
Found SMN on a web search, and instantly became my go-to for referencing. It gave me the incentive to up my ante if I started submitting images of my builds to the gallery, and after chatting to Geoff create my own build reviews.

Love the reviews and gallery, which I find inspirational, great layout and easy to navigate.

And finally…tell us a (clean) joke…
USS Nimitz requests that a ship it is approaching changes course, and demands that this is acted upon immediately. The other party, responds that the Nimitz should change course, whereupon the captain of the Nimitz reiterates the demand, identifying himself as a US Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier, one of the largest naval warships afloat and yields to no other vessel. This elicits the response “I’m a lighthouse. Your call.”
