Fountains are found in their thousands across Europe and can be added to every building in this range to extend the scenes and dioramas further. Adding this to a road scene using Airfix vehicles makes for something different. This model can also be a perfect to add to railway layouts.
We have already reviewed a number of these building from the Airfix range so do check them out in the Armour Kits area of Here Now.
Main resin moulding
The one-piece resin moulding is ideal and will find many takers for those interested in this scale. The quality of the tooling is high with fine definition to the concrete/stone surfaces of the fountain.
There is little in the way of flash and surplus resin, so are almost ready to use as supplied. Don’t forget that you need to wash all the parts in tepid soapy water as this will remove the release agent used in the moulding process that will prevent your paint from adhering properly.
Finally remember to wear a suitable mask when working with resin and keep your work space well ventilated; this advice is essential if you are cutting or amending any of the resin parts ☺
A painting guide is provided on the back of the box and although Humbrol colour references are given the fact that the front and rear aspects of the completed model are in colour will help you to complete your model authentically.
Note that some of these resin accessories from Airfix are in 1:72 scale like this fountain and Polish Bank, while others are in 1:76 scale. This is a high quality product and could really enhance a small-scale vignette or diorama involving many of the Airfix AFV kits but of course, those from other manufacturers like Revell and others.
