Moving on to Sprue B, this contains the main fuselage halves, underside of the fuselage, upper cargo hatch and parts for the rear gearbox housing, along with the rotor heads.
Recessed detail on the fuselage looks a bit deep to me, especially the access hatches on each side of the rear rotor housing.
Raised rivet detail also seems a bit over-scale, but nothing a light sanding wouldn’t fix.
The upper instrument console has raised detail that appears very simplified, some work here perhaps.
But all is not doom and gloom, the rotor heads look really nice and I believe will paint up a treat.
Sprue C contains the clear parts, fuselage and hatch windows and the cockpit canopy / nose assembly.
The clarity seems good and the raised rivet detail around the canopy is more refined.
Sprue(s) D are identical and contain cabin seating, undercarriage, wheels, rotor hub cowls and various smaller parts.
Sprue E has the rotor blades, hatches and engine intake guards, along with smaller parts and interestingly a rescue winch unit which the parts guide shows as ‘not to be used’.
The engine intakes are the non-sand filter design, so to replicate the mesh screens a small square of this is supplied and a cutting and shaping diagram is included in that section of the instructions.
Sprue(s) F are where the parts differ from the HC Mk1 kit produced earlier by both Italeri and Revell.
Not all parts are for the HC Mk2, some of the differing items for the CH-47F and CH-47J reside here, but what is needed for what version you choose to build is very clear in the instruction sheet.
For the HC Mk 2 the main additions are:
• Arial fit and HF antenna
• Defensive systems external parts and
• Chaff and Flare dispensers.
